The Commuity Resource Centre was opened in November 2005 at 2a Alexander Road, Acocks Green, and is a place for the community to meet and somewhere for residents to recieve support in the form of housing and benefit advice, debt counselling, and a place to be listened to by the Community Association and the Police.
Benefit/Debt Advice
Lee Collier provided debt and benefits advice at the resource centre at 2a Alexander Rd. Unfortuately, funding for Lee's post ceased and this much valued service has been suspended. The Association started neogtiations in January 2009 to have the service reinstated. Good quality debt and benefits advice has helped many local residents, providing assistance and reassurance over rent, housing benefit, and other issues.
It is hoped a new service will start in the Spring of 2009.
MEETING ROOM AVAILABLE FOR COMMUNITY USE
2a Alexandar Road has a small meeting room that can accomodate approximately 16 people seated around a Board table or 25 people seated.
The Association encourages use of these facilities by community groups and local residents. A small charge to cover heating and cleaning cost may be payable depending on the nature of the organistion wishing to use the room.
If you are interested in booking this facility, please contact Pam Smith, Director and Company Secretary on 0121 694 7128
