Stockfield Community Association - Community Facilities - Arthur Moore Hall

Arthur Moore Hall - Acocks Green Baptist Church.

Community Facilities

It has always been the intention of the Association to provide a community centre/facilities in particular to benefit residents of the Stockfield estate. This facility was originally planned to be built within the Stockfield Park, however, due to policy changes at Birmingham City Council it was made clear to the Association that such a facility would no longer be approved. For the last ten years the Association has investigated a number of potential sites and buildings in the hope of providing a facility, albeit not on the estate.

Most recently, the Board of Directors undertook a feasibility study with a view to purchasing the old Churchill Social Club on the Warwick Road. Unfortunately the Association's valuation of that building fell considerably short of the amount a developer was prepared to pay.

Over the last two to three years the Association has been working closely with the Acocks Green Baptist Church to assess the potential for a refurbishment of the Arthur Moore Hall to provide community facilities. In February 2009 the Association commisioned architechs to draw up a proposal which it is estimated will be submitted for planning approval by Birmingham City Council in early 2010.

LATEST UPDATE AUGUST 2009

Once planning permission has been achieved it is hoped that grant funding will be forthcoming to enable the project to be built.
